DrupalSouth is nearly here. You and around 180 local and travelling Drupal mates are gearing up for a great few days in Auckland. Ahead of the fun here are some timings and tips for a great conference.
Q Theatre WiFi credentials
Username (SSID): DrupalSouth
The code sprint this year is on the Wednesday before the conference and will be held at the conference venue Q Theatre. Head up the stairs to the left of the theatre cafe to get amongst your people. More details can be found here.
No conference look is complete without a lanyard. Please ensure you head to the conference registration table in the main Q Theatre lobby - either on Wednesday after 9.00am during the code sprint or on Thursday morning before the conference kicks off at 8.30am.
To avoid long waiting times, we will have 4 stations divided by FIRST NAMES. Each station is marked in a different colour.
- A-C: Yellow
- D-J: Red
- K-O: Blue
- R-Z: Green
If you have any issues or questions during the conference - the conference committee team are wearing light blue t shirts so should be easy to spot.
Arriving for powhiri
The conference starts how early? At 8.30am on Thursday the conference will be opened with a welcome by the local iwi (Māori tribe). You can’t miss out on this. If you haven’t been able to register before the powhiri starts, come see us at the registration table after the keynote.
The conference schedule is now available on the website. Here you will find the sessions are split across three rooms featuring talks between 10 and 40 minutes long (including question time). Check out the schedule here and click through on each session for more details.
Trying to find a speaker but can’t remember their name? The session announcement page provides an alternative layout than the schedule.
Q Theatre is being transformed into a bespoke conference layout for two days. We have three rooms for sessions, each on a different floor of the theatre.
The easiest way to get into Q Theatre is via the main entrance on Queen Street, not far from the Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square. This will get you access to the lounge where there is a cafe with coffee available, the registration table and a social space/bar for all attendees. Beyond the lounge is the main room Rangatira Theatre. To the left of the main entrance are stairs leading up to the Loft lobby and Loft Theatre where we will have classroom style seating. To the right of the main entrance are stairs leading down to the Vault session space. Once inside Q there are also internal stairs and lifts to move between floors and sessions.
Code of Conduct
We ask all speakers and delegates to re-read the code of conduct in the lead up to the conference. It is important that we host a safe & supportive conference for all attendees.
Getting to the Conference
If you’re staying in a city hotel chances are walking is the quickest way to get to the venue. See the Auckland Transport website for more travel options.
We will be hosting a social gathering each day of the conference. Details have been shared directly with attendees via email.
Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather sessions (or BoFs) are an integral part of many Drupal conferences. They’re where like-minded people come together to discuss a certain topic without a pre-planned agenda. We’ll be providing a space for BoFs and will have a whiteboard located in the Loft lobby for planning and scheduling BoF sessions.
Use the tag #drupalsouth - and some great tweets will be rewarded by spot prizes.
A big thank you to all attendees for coming to our community events - the conference team are excited with all there is to share over the two day event.
See you in Auckland soon!
